This 78’x54′ 2-story home in Montecito, California, was damaged in the 2018 mudslides. Rather than demolish it, the owners purchased the lot above it on the hillside and made plans to relocate it 20′ higher up the slope where it would be out of the floodplain. Wolfe lifted the house and set the steel beams, inserting the cross beams through the window beams because of the low foundation clearance. When the steel was in place, Wolfe’s foreman used the Buckingham SmartSteer® System to steer the 410-ton house up the move route, around a corner, and over the new foundation.
