Wolfe House Movers relocated a 2-story, 35’x72′ frame building for the University of Connecticut, moving the building in two stages to accommodate the contractors’ timeline. The circa-1920 building was constructed with a central fireplace, two front porches, and a back entry porch, and was part of the Campus’s historic district. In the first stage of the move, Wolfe lifted the building and moved it 340′ from its original location to a storage site, where they supported it on steel beams while the partial foundation was completed at its permanent location. When the new site was finished, Wolfe returned to move and lower the house into final position. The University is constructing a new residency hall at the house’s original location, and plans to restore the house and integrate it into campus life.
