This solid log cabin outside of Winfield, MO was lifted up to get out of the flood plain of the mighty Mississippi River. Wolfe House Movers was contracted to lift the building along with its three large stone fireplaces, up 16′ above its original elevation. Once set on its new foundation, there were many truck-loads of fill hauled in to bring the surrounding grade up as well. This was all worth the price five years later when the Mississippi again topped the levies. The flood waters surrounded the cabin but it safely rode out the storm out of harms way up on its own island.
