These condominiums in Vernon, Connecticut were two of the many buildings recently affected by failing foundations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Although the buildings were built in the 1980s, contaminated concrete in the foundations developed a network of cracks, endangering the stability of the buildings. A local contractor hired Wolfe to lift the buildings so the foundations could be replaced. Wolfe used hydraulic jacks with a unified jacking system to lift a 38’x152′ condominium and a 54’x148′ condominium with front porches and rear decks. Each building was raised 7′ into the air and supported in place while the original foundation was removed and replaced with a new one.
