Wolfe House Movers relocated a 110-year-old stone and brick library building in New Canaan, CT, as part of the town’s initiative to incorporate a community green space into a modernized library complex. The site plan entailed sliding the original 1913 building back 115′ on the property, rotating it 5°, and placing it over a new foundation. The contractor demolished the additions that had been added to the library over the decades, retaining the 22’x66′ building with its terracotta floor system and columns from the entry portico. Wolfe lifted the building from the foundation and used a roll beam system to slide the library across the lot before setting it over the new foundation.
