After nine years of concentrated effort to preserve the historic May House, Indiana Landmarks had the rewarding experience today of watching it crawl six blocks up the hill to its new location. The brick Colonial Revival-style home was built in 1929 by a prominent local attorney, and was threatened by demolition after the land it was built on was absorbed by South Bend Memorial Hospital. Indiana Landmarks partnered with Wolfe to move the house to a residential neighborhood just around the corner, where they will renovate it and sell it as a private residence.
