Jim and Leah Hogan’s Rowayton, CT home was severely damaged after Hurricane Sandy. However, instead of moving, the Hogans decided to lift their home 8 feet in the air to avoid potential flood damage from future storms. The expectation is that many homeowners in the New York metro area, and other flood-prone locations, will soon face the decision to either elevate their homes, or pay higher insurance rates.
